Education is a fundamental pillar in national development and is strongly influenced by the quality of educators, including teachers and lecturers. In an effort to enhance professionalism and the quality of national education, the Indonesian government has implemented a teacher and lecturer certification policy as stipulated in Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers. This policy aims to ensure that educators possess competencies in accordance with national education standards, as well as to improve their welfare and professional recognition. Although the certification policy has been implemented for more than a decade, it continues to face various challenges, including selection criteria, implementation procedures, equity, and continuous evaluation of its impact. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the teacher and lecturer certification policy, identify its impact on educational quality, and examine the obstacles encountered in its implementation. The results of this analysis are expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of the certification policy and serve as a basis for formulating improvement recommendations to enhance the quality of education in Indonesia in a sustainable manner.
